Within the hospitality sector, there is an understanding of an inevitable level of food waste. Yet it is feasible and acceptable to counterbalance a restaurant’s/hotel’s Food Waste in a socially and environmentally responsible way. The United Nations Environment Programmes backed “Carbon Free Dining” initiative costs absolutely nothing to participate in, yet restaurants benefit tremendously from a win-win partnership – an opportunity taken up by Marco Pierre White, James Martin and Judy Joo.

The value of a tree was published by the present author in 1979 in the Indian Biologist in Vol. XI, No. 1-2, pp 73.79. For the first time, the intrinsic value of a tree was determined based on various environmental benefits and services derived from a tree during its lifespan of 50 years and its amount was $196,250 calculated at the market rate that prevailed in 1979.
Tom Kerridge and his “Last meal on earth”
Several gastro-pubs and celebrity chefs all over the UK are making an effort to revitalise fish and chips and make it the latest thing once again.
Renowned English chef Tom Kerridge, who runs the two Michelin starred Hand and Flowers in Marlow, Bucks, has even famously said that his “last meal on earth” would be cod and chips brought in a takeaway in his district in Linden, Gloucestershire called Danny Dykes.
Each year, World Food Day is an event that is celebrated for the sole purpose of combating hunger around the world. The 16th of October is the day of the year when people work together in the fight against hunger with the aim of eradicating it from people’s lives once and for all.
On Earth Day 2017 (22nd April) join global brands and celebrity chefs including Marco Pierre White and James Martin in counterbalancing their restaurant’s environmental impact in the completely free, United Nations backed initiative. Benefits include local, regional and trade PR, as well as enhanced customer experience.
Every year, World Environment Day or WED is celebrated on the 5th of June in order to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining and defending Mother Nature and the entire planet from further harm and destruction that stems from natural disasters caused by men.
